Eric Clapton is a Blues and Psychedelic rock act. Their catalogue also touches Rock. Their sound grew out of Tower of Power, Spoonful, Blues Incorporated, Graham Bond and Live at the Regal. Those roots explain a lot about how Eric Clapton arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Derek and the Dominos, Jeff Beck, John Mayall & The Bluesbreakers, Dire Straits and Mark Knopfler, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Idlewild South, Blondshell, Masayoshi Takanaka, Lindsay Ell and Jean-Pierre Danel, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 234 connections around Eric Clapton, reaching back through Tower of Power and forward to Idlewild South. Follow any of those threads to keep travelling the influence between bands and genres on Starverb.
