RY X is a Ambient act. Their sound grew out of Pearl Jam and Jeff Buckley. Those roots explain a lot about how RY X arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Blanco White, James Vincent McMorrow, Andrew Belle, Tom Rosenthal and Novo Amor, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Rihanna, Black Coffee, Drake, Sam Smith and Diplo, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 28 connections around RY X, reaching back through Pearl Jam and forward to Rihanna. Follow any of those threads to keep travelling the influence between bands and genres on Starverb.
