Drake

Contemporary R&B
Contemporary R&BHip hopPop

Drake is a Contemporary R&B and Hip hop act. Their catalogue also touches Pop and Trap. Their sound grew out of DJ Paul, Dej Loaf, Jamie xx, Skepta and RY X. Those roots explain a lot about how Drake arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as PARTYNEXTDOOR, DJ Khaled, Future, Tory Lanez and Lil Baby, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Sarah Jaffe, God Forgives, I Don't, Weekend, Shoot for the Stars, Aim for the Moon and YG Marley, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 266 connections around Drake, reaching back through DJ Paul and forward to Sarah Jaffe. Follow any of those threads to keep travelling the influence between bands and genres on Starverb.
