San Cisco is an act on the Starverb influence map. Their sound grew out of Vampire Weekend, The Flaming Lips, MGMT and Ball Park Music. Those roots explain a lot about how San Cisco arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Ball Park Music, Lime Cordiale, The Jungle Giants, Spacey Jane and Thelma Plum, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Smallpools and Illy, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 36 connections around San Cisco, reaching back through Vampire Weekend and forward to Smallpools. Follow any of those threads to keep travelling the influence between bands and genres on Starverb.
