Foster the People

Rap
Rap

Foster the People is a Rap act. Their sound grew out of Madeon, Andrew VanWyngarden, Last Dinosaurs, The Chain Gang of 1974 and Tokyo Police Club. Those roots explain a lot about how Foster the People arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Two Door Cinema Club, Grouplove, Capital Cities, Sir Sly and Atlas Genius, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Grouplove, RAC, Ewelina Lisowska, Maroon 5 and Locked Out of Heaven, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 41 connections around Foster the People, reaching back through Madeon and forward to Grouplove. Follow any of those threads to keep travelling the influence between bands and genres on Starverb.
