Sonia is an act on the Starverb influence map. Their sound grew out of Miriam Stockley, Stock Aitken Waterman, The Beatles and Hopelessly Devoted to You. They run in the same orbit as Jason Donovan, Hazell Dean, Rick Astley, Kim Appleby and Charlotte Perrelli, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Big Fun, Kylie Minogue and Imagination, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 26 connections around Sonia, reaching back through Miriam Stockley and forward to Big Fun. Follow any of those threads to keep travelling the influence between bands and genres on Starverb.
