Stock Aitken Waterman is a Dance-pop and Synth-pop act. Their sound grew out of Paul McCartney and George Martin. Those roots explain a lot about how Stock Aitken Waterman arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Hot Streak, The Brooklyn, Bronx & Queens Band, Apollonia 6, Michael Fortunati and David Joseph, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Tetsuya Komuro, Donna Summer, Cliff Richard, Sonia and Divine, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 21 connections around Stock Aitken Waterman, reaching back through Paul McCartney and forward to Tetsuya Komuro. Follow any of those threads to keep travelling the influence between bands and genres on Starverb.
