◇ image via WikipediaTangerine Dream
Tangerine Dream is a Electronic act. Their sound grew out of Electronica 2: The Heart of Noise, Agitation Free, Michael Hoenig, Ravi Shankar and The Beatles. Those roots explain a lot about how Tangerine Dream arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Peter Baumann, Mike Oldfield, Jan Hammer, Isao Tomita and Art of Noise, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Mayhem, Melody A.M., Can Atilla, Sôl austan, Mâni vestan and Mariusz Duda, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 54 connections around Tangerine Dream, reaching back through Electronica 2: The Heart of Noise and forward to Mayhem.
