Alternative rockProgressive rock

Alan Parsons is a Alternative rock and Progressive rock act. Their sound grew out of Lou Gramm, The Beatles, Wings, The Hollies and Pink Floyd. Those roots explain a lot about how Alan Parsons arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Eric Woolfson, Steve Hackett, Mike Oldfield, Manfred Mann's Earth Band and Supertramp, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Tommy Shaw, Todd Rundgren, Ann Wilson, John Entwistle and Lady Antebellum, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 45 connections around Alan Parsons, reaching back through Lou Gramm and forward to Tommy Shaw. Follow any of those threads to keep travelling the influence between bands and genres on Starverb.
