Tanukichan is an act on the Starverb influence map. Their sound grew out of Toro y Moi, Alison's Halo, Ovlov and Glixen. Those roots explain a lot about how Tanukichan arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Slow Pulp, Cryogeyser, Computerwife, blue smiley and VIVIENNE EASTWOOD, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Asobi Seksu, Rocketship, Drop Nineteens, Pia Fraus and Jay Som, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 37 connections around Tanukichan, reaching back through Toro y Moi and forward to Asobi Seksu.
