Tex Ritter is a Country act. Their sound grew out of Bob Wills, Jimmy Wakely and Jenny Lou Carson. Those roots explain a lot about how Tex Ritter arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Dave Dudley, Jimmie Rodgers, Hank Thompson, Bobby Bare and Johnny Horton, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Johnny Bond, Frankie Laine, Barbara Mandrell and John Stewart, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 17 connections around Tex Ritter, reaching back through Bob Wills and forward to Johnny Bond.
