The Moments is an act on the Starverb influence map. Their sound grew out of Sylvia Robinson. Those roots explain a lot about how The Moments arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as The Ebonys, The Dells, The Chi-Lites, The Originals and Patti Drew, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Empire State of Mind and The Rimshots, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 32 connections around The Moments, reaching back through Sylvia Robinson and forward to Empire State of Mind.
