Titãs is an act on the Starverb influence map. Their sound grew out of Legião Urbana, Novos Baianos, Caetano Veloso, Gilberto Gil and Blitz. Those roots explain a lot about how Titãs arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Os Paralamas Do Sucesso, Ira!, Barão Vermelho, Ultraje A Rigor and Capital Inicial, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Os Paralamas Do Sucesso, Jorge Drexler and Beneath the Remains, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 48 connections around Titãs, reaching back through Legião Urbana and forward to Os Paralamas Do Sucesso. Follow any of those threads to keep travelling the influence between bands and genres on Starverb.
