Erasmo Carlos

Erasmo Carlos is an act on the Starverb influence map. Their sound grew out of Roberto Carlos, Cauby Peixoto, Tim Maia, Elvis Presley and Marilyn Monroe. Those roots explain a lot about how Erasmo Carlos arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Roberto Carlos, Caetano Veloso, Gilberto Gil, Novos Baianos and Sérgio Sampaio, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Jorge Ben, As Frenéticas, Gilberto Gil, Rita Lee and Tim Maia, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 38 connections around Erasmo Carlos, reaching back through Roberto Carlos and forward to Jorge Ben. Follow any of those threads to keep travelling the influence between bands and genres on Starverb.
