Tormentor is a Black metal act. Their sound grew out of King ov Hell. Those roots explain a lot about how Tormentor arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Hellhammer, Sarcófago, Nifelheim, Bathory and Abigail, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas, Mayhem, Fenriz, Kjetil Manheim and Fenriz Presents... The Best of Old-School Black Metal, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 22 connections around Tormentor, reaching back through King ov Hell and forward to De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas.
