◇ image via WikipediaBathory
Bathory is a Black metal act. Their sound grew out of The Exploited, Venom, Hellhammer, Mercyful Fate and Ian Gillan. Those roots explain a lot about how Bathory arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Darkthrone, Venom, Sarcófago, Hellhammer and Dissection, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Tsjuder, Teach Children to Worship Satan, Lawless Darkness, Worship Him and Zuriaake, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 106 connections around Bathory, reaching back through The Exploited and forward to Tsjuder. Follow any of those threads to keep travelling the influence between bands and genres on Starverb.
