DiscoDrum and bassTrip hop

Towa Tei is a Disco and Drum and bass act. Their catalogue also touches Trip hop. Their sound grew out of Atom™, Bahamadia and Ryuichi Sakamoto. Those roots explain a lot about how Towa Tei arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Rei Harakami, Cymbals, Ken Ishii, Perfume and HALCALI, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Cornelius, Fantastic Plastic Machine, Yasutaka Nakata and Bebel Gilberto, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 18 connections around Towa Tei, reaching back through Atom™ and forward to Cornelius. Follow any of those threads to keep travelling the influence between bands and genres on Starverb.
