Bahamadia is an act on the Starverb influence map. Their sound grew out of Schoolly D, Gang Starr, Slum Village, Dwele and The Herbaliser. Those roots explain a lot about how Bahamadia arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Grand Puba, Q-Tip, Slum Village, Jeru the Damaja and A Tribe Called Quest, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into The Roots, Jedi Mind Tricks, Erykah Badu, Morcheeba and Guru, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 46 connections around Bahamadia, reaching back through Schoolly D and forward to The Roots. Follow any of those threads to keep travelling the influence between bands and genres on Starverb.
