Basement Jaxx

Basement Jaxx is an act on the Starverb influence map. Their sound grew out of Robyn, Yoko Ono, Santigold, Grace Jones and Prince. Those roots explain a lot about how Basement Jaxx arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Cassius, Groove Armada, Armand van Helden, Deee-Lite and Underworld, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Cadence Weapon, Yoko Ono, Justin Timberlake, Janet Jackson and Sophie Ellis-Bextor, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 64 connections around Basement Jaxx, reaching back through Robyn and forward to Cadence Weapon. Follow any of those threads to keep travelling the influence between bands and genres on Starverb.
