Disco Inferno were an English band active in the late 1980s and the 1990s. Initially a trio of guitar, bass, and drums performing in an identifiable post-punk style, the band soon incorporated digital sampling drawing from various aural and musical sources, and atmospheric and hypnotic songwriting. While commercially unsuccessful during their existence, the band acquired a cult following, with critics regarding them as a key first wave post-rock act.

Moonshake were a British-based experimental rock band, existing between 1991 and 1997. The only consistent member was singer, sampler player and occasional guitarist David Callahan, who initially co-led the project with Margaret Fiedler. Charles Arthur Russell Jr. was an American cellist, composer, producer, singer, and musician from Iowa, whose work spanned a disparate range of styles. After studying contemporary composition and Indian classical music in California, Russell relocated to New York City in the mid-1970s, where he became involved in Lower Manhattan's avant-garde community and later the city's burgeoning disco scene. His eclectic music was often marked by adventurous production choices and his soft tenor vocals.

Joan of Arc was an American indie rock band from Chicago, Illinois, named after the French saint Joan of Arc. They formed in 1995, following the breakup of Cap'n Jazz. Singer Tim Kinsella was the only permanent member of the group; he has also recorded as a solo artist.

Mark David Hollis was an English musician, singer, and songwriter who was the co-founder, lead vocalist, lyricist, and songwriter of the new wave and post-rock band Talk Talk. Hollis achieved commercial success and critical acclaim in the 1980s and 1990s as a member of the band and wrote most of the songs, including hits like "It's My Life" and "Life's What You Make It". Though primarily a vocalist, Hollis became a prolific multi-instrumentalist, as he played guitars and keyboards.
