Shudder to Think is an American rock band from Washington, D.C., formed in 1986. During the course of their initial existence, the band released three albums on the D.C.–based label Dischord Records, and two on Epic Records. Their early work was largely influenced by post-hardcore, although they gradually drew upon a wide range of stylistic influences, including art rock and power pop.

Talking Heads were an American rock band formed in New York City in 1975. It consisted of lead vocalist and guitarist David Byrne, drummer Chris Frantz, bassist Tina Weymouth, and guitarist and keyboardist Jerry Harrison. Described as one of the most acclaimed groups of the 1970s and 1980s, Talking Heads helped to pioneer new wave music by combining elements of punk, art rock, funk, and world music with "an anxious yet clean-cut image".
