◇ image via WikipediaFugazi
Fugazi is a Punk rock and Rap act. Their sound grew out of Fear, Algiers, Positive Force, MC5 and Embrace. Those roots explain a lot about how Fugazi arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Minutemen, At the Drive-In, Mission of Burma, Moss Icon and Faraquet, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Les Savy Fav, The Futureheads, Foo Fighters, Refused and Birds in Row, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 86 connections around Fugazi, reaching back through Fear and forward to Les Savy Fav. Follow any of those threads to keep travelling the influence between bands and genres on Starverb.
