2AM

2AM is an act on the Starverb influence map. Their sound grew out of AJ, 2PM, Ken Hirai and Yiruma. Those roots explain a lot about how 2AM arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Tablo, 2PM, So!YoON!, F.T ISLAND and BTS, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Wonder Girls, 2PM, Apink and Day6, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 28 connections around 2AM, reaching back through AJ and forward to Wonder Girls. Follow any of those threads to keep travelling the influence between bands and genres on Starverb.

Background

2AM is a South Korean boy band, that consists of Jo Kwon, Lee Chang-min, Lim Seul-ong, and Jeong Jin-woon. The band was formed by JYP Entertainment through the Mnet reality show Hot Blooded Men, which spawned the eleven-member boy band One Day; 2AM primarily perform ballad songs while their brother group 2PM performed more dance-focused music. With the addition of Changmin from Big Hit Entertainment, now known as Big Hit Music, the group was co-managed by JYP and Big Hit from 2008 to 2014. They officially debuted on July 11, 2008, on KBS' Music Bank, performing their debut single "This Song". The group also debuted in Japan with the single "Never Let You Go: Shindemo Hanasanai" in January 2012.
