Boyfriend is a Contemporary R&B act. Their sound grew out of Peaches, Big Freedia, Billy Porter and Zebra Katz. Those roots explain a lot about how Boyfriend arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Infinite, TEEN TOP, U-KISS, B1A4 and MBLAQ, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Altogether the chart holds 25 connections around Boyfriend, reaching back through Peaches. Follow any of those threads to keep travelling the influence between bands and genres on Starverb.
