Avi Kaplan

Avi Kaplan is an act on the Starverb influence map. Their sound grew out of Shooter Jennings, John Denver, Bill Withers, Iron & Wine and Bon Iver. Those roots explain a lot about how Avi Kaplan arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Shawn James, Petr Kalandra, Roo Panes, The Arcadian Wild and Colm R. McGuinness, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Pentatonix, Dolly Parton and Joy Williams, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 29 connections around Avi Kaplan, reaching back through Shooter Jennings and forward to Pentatonix. Follow any of those threads to keep travelling the influence between bands and genres on Starverb.
