Bonaparte is an act on the Starverb influence map. Their sound grew out of Fatoumata Diawara. Those roots explain a lot about how Bonaparte arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Bilderbuch, Kraftklub, The Dø, Crystal Fighters and Does It Offend You, Yeah?, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Siriusmo, M.I.A., Die Ärzte, Sophie Hunger and Modeselektor, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 17 connections around Bonaparte, reaching back through Fatoumata Diawara and forward to Siriusmo. Follow any of those threads to keep travelling the influence between bands and genres on Starverb.
