House

CeCe Peniston is a House act. Their sound grew out of Jocelyn Brown, Vesta, Thelma Houston, Monie Love and Aretha Franklin. Those roots explain a lot about how CeCe Peniston arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Crystal Waters, Black Box, Paula Abdul, Deee-Lite and En Vogue, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Let's Get to It, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 26 connections around CeCe Peniston, reaching back through Jocelyn Brown and forward to Let's Get to It. Follow any of those threads to keep travelling the influence between bands and genres on Starverb.
