Chesney Hawkes

Chesney Hawkes is an act on the Starverb influence map. Their sound grew out of Barry Manilow, Nik Kershaw and The Tremeloes. Those roots explain a lot about how Chesney Hawkes arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Nena, Wet Wet Wet, Go West, Belinda Carlisle and John Parr, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into James Blunt, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 28 connections around Chesney Hawkes, reaching back through Barry Manilow and forward to James Blunt. Follow any of those threads to keep travelling the influence between bands and genres on Starverb.
