Dennis Edwards is a House act. Their sound grew out of Aretha Franklin, Otis Redding, Damon Harris, Siedah Garrett and Sam Cooke. Those roots explain a lot about how Dennis Edwards arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as DeBarge, Imagination, Ashford & Simpson, Joyce Sims and The Gap Band, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into PAWSA, Siedah Garrett, The Pointer Sisters, Ronika and The Weather Girls, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 36 connections around Dennis Edwards, reaching back through Aretha Franklin and forward to PAWSA. Follow any of those threads to keep travelling the influence between bands and genres on Starverb.
