Desireless is a Synth-pop act. Their sound grew out of Annie Lennox and Grace Jones. Those roots explain a lot about how Desireless arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Modern Talking, F.R. David, Alphaville, Michael Sembello and Laura Branigan, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Kate Ryan and Sirenia, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 30 connections around Desireless, reaching back through Annie Lennox and forward to Kate Ryan.
