Glen Hansard

Glen Hansard is an act on the Starverb influence map. Their sound grew out of Sam Amidon, Temple of the Dog, Josh Ritter, Leonard Cohen and Van Morrison. Those roots explain a lot about how Glen Hansard arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as The Frames, Ray LaMontagne, Josh Ritter, Eddie Vedder and William Fitzsimmons, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Kris Allen and Dermot Kennedy, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 30 connections around Glen Hansard, reaching back through Sam Amidon and forward to Kris Allen. Follow any of those threads to keep travelling the influence between bands and genres on Starverb.
