GoldLink is an act on the Starverb influence map. Their sound grew out of Sheck Wes, Benny Sings, Cruel Santino, brasstracks and Brent Faiyaz. Those roots explain a lot about how GoldLink arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Buddy, The Internet, Bas, Mick Jenkins and Jay Prince, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Mac Miller and 88rising, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 35 connections around GoldLink, reaching back through Sheck Wes and forward to Mac Miller. Follow any of those threads to keep travelling the influence between bands and genres on Starverb.
