88rising is an act on the Starverb influence map. Their sound grew out of Ski Mask the Slump God, Keith Ape, A$AP Ferg, Father and Waka Flocka Flame. Those roots explain a lot about how 88rising arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as keshi, slchld, Arthur Nery, Joji and Rich Brian, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Keith Ape, Rich Brian, Niki, Joji and Dumbfoundead, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 50 connections around 88rising, reaching back through Ski Mask the Slump God and forward to Keith Ape. Follow any of those threads to keep travelling the influence between bands and genres on Starverb.
