Gorefest is a Death metal act. Their sound grew out of Autopsy and Deicide. Those roots explain a lot about how Gorefest arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Sinister, Malevolent Creation, Unleashed, Dismember and Pungent Stench, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Epica, Mark Jansen and After Forever, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 17 connections around Gorefest, reaching back through Autopsy and forward to Epica. Follow any of those threads to keep travelling the influence between bands and genres on Starverb.
