Hot to Go! is a Dance-pop and Electropop act. Their catalogue also touches Synth-pop. Their sound grew out of Village People, Queen and Olivia Rodrigo. They run in the same orbit as Pink Pony Club, Good Luck, Babe! and All the Things She Said, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Vampire Weekend, Beck, St. Vincent, Charli XCX and Olivia Rodrigo, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 11 connections around Hot to Go!, reaching back through Village People and forward to Vampire Weekend. Background

"Hot to Go!" is a song by the American singer and songwriter Chappell Roan, from her debut studio album, The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess (2023). It was released through Island Records and Amusement Records on August 11, 2023, as the album's seventh and final single. She co-wrote the track with its producer Dan Nigro. "Hot to Go!" is a synth-pop, electropop, indie pop, dance-pop, and dance track taking influence from electroclash. Described as a queer cheer song similar to the Village People's "Y.M.C.A.", it was inspired by Roan's childhood dream of wanting to become a cheerleader.
