Hundred Waters is an act on the Starverb influence map. Their sound grew out of Chance the Rapper. Those roots explain a lot about how Hundred Waters arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Sylvan Esso, Son Lux, Yeasayer, Kishi Bashi and Electric Guest, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Julie Byrne, Interpol, alt-J, The xx and Julia Holter, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 24 connections around Hundred Waters, reaching back through Chance the Rapper and forward to Julie Byrne. Follow any of those threads to keep travelling the influence between bands and genres on Starverb.
