Sylvan Esso

Sylvan Esso is an act on the Starverb influence map. Their sound grew out of Maggie Rogers, Mountain Man, Feist, The Books and Boards of Canada. Those roots explain a lot about how Sylvan Esso arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Lucius, Miike Snow, Tourist, alt-J and Matt & Kim, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Erin LeCount, Grouplove, Remi Wolf and The Postal Service, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 28 connections around Sylvan Esso, reaching back through Maggie Rogers and forward to Erin LeCount. Follow any of those threads to keep travelling the influence between bands and genres on Starverb.
