Junior Byles is a Reggae act. Their sound grew out of Oh Carolina, The Archies, Niney the Observer, Lee "Scratch" Perry and Larry Marshall. Those roots explain a lot about how Junior Byles arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Junior Murvin, The Mighty Diamonds, The Heptones, Jacob Miller and Dave Barker, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Creation Rebel and Bounty Killer, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 31 connections around Junior Byles, reaching back through Oh Carolina and forward to Creation Rebel.
