◇ image via WikipediaThe Archies
The Archies is a Garage rock act. Their sound grew out of The Box Tops, Wilson Pickett, The Zombies, The Turtles and The Monkees. Those roots explain a lot about how The Archies arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Tommy James & The Shondells, Herman's Hermits, B.J. Thomas, The Foundations and Bobby Vee, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Junior Byles, Stars on 45, Self, Crocodiles and The Partridge Family, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 41 connections around The Archies, reaching back through The Box Tops and forward to Junior Byles. Follow any of those threads to keep travelling the influence between bands and genres on Starverb.
