Kronos Quartet is an act on the Starverb influence map. Their sound grew out of John Adams, Arvo Pärt, George Crumb, Henryk Górecki and Philip Glass. Those roots explain a lot about how Kronos Quartet arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Arvo Pärt, Max Richter, Gidon Kremer, Arthur Rubinstein and John Cage, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Dave Matthews Band, Whoa, Nelly!, Foley Room and Trynna Finda Way, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 34 connections around Kronos Quartet, reaching back through John Adams and forward to Dave Matthews Band. Follow any of those threads to keep travelling the influence between bands and genres on Starverb.
