Lawrence

Lawrence is an act on the Starverb influence map. Their sound grew out of Jon Bellion, AJR and MisterWives. Those roots explain a lot about how Lawrence arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Efdemin, DJ Koze, The Field, Robag Wruhme and Jan Jelinek, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into The Rolling Stones, Jonas Brothers, Jon Bellion, Lake Street Dive and Vulfpeck, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 31 connections around Lawrence, reaching back through Jon Bellion and forward to The Rolling Stones. Follow any of those threads to keep travelling the influence between bands and genres on Starverb.

Background

Lawrence is an American pop-soul band formed in New York City by siblings Clyde and Gracie Lawrence. The pair have been singing, performing, and writing songs together since early childhood, and have since been joined by six of their best friends from various points in their childhood to form an eight-piece group featuring dual lead vocals, a horn section, and a full rhythm section.
