Contemporary R&B

Mario Winans is a Contemporary R&B act. Their sound grew out of Universal Records, I Want Tomorrow, Timati, CeCe Winans and R. Kelly. Those roots explain a lot about how Mario Winans arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as P. Diddy, Usher, Dru Hill, Blackstreet and Joe, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Brandy, Trey Songz, CeCe Winans, Keyshia Cole and Jamie Scott, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 48 connections around Mario Winans, reaching back through Universal Records and forward to Brandy. Follow any of those threads to keep travelling the influence between bands and genres on Starverb.
