Meiko is a Folk act. Their sound grew out of Morgan Page, Hypnogaja, AM, The Crystal Method and Mr.Kitty. Those roots explain a lot about how Meiko arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Ingrid Michaelson, KT Tunstall, Sara Bareilles, Jem and Anya Marina, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Ingrid Michaelson, Brett Dennen, Rachael Yamagata, Sara Bareilles and Joe Purdy, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 25 connections around Meiko, reaching back through Morgan Page and forward to Ingrid Michaelson.
