Michigander is an act on the Starverb influence map. Their sound grew out of Manchester Orchestra. Those roots explain a lot about how Michigander arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Colony House, Hippo Campus, Coin, Deep Sea Diver and Spacey Jane, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Manchester Orchestra, Dashboard Confessional, Foster the People, alt-J and Ben Kweller, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 34 connections around Michigander, reaching back through Manchester Orchestra and forward to Manchester Orchestra. Follow any of those threads to keep travelling the influence between bands and genres on Starverb.
