Modern Baseball is a Emo and Indie rock act. Their sound grew out of Daniel Johnston, Knuckle Puck, Marietta and Dikembe. Those roots explain a lot about how Modern Baseball arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Slaughter Beach, Dog, Sorority Noise, Joyce Manor, MCCAFFERTY and Tigers Jaw, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into PUP, Fresh, The Menzingers, Cayetana and The Wonder Years, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 29 connections around Modern Baseball, reaching back through Daniel Johnston and forward to PUP.
