Daniel Johnston is a Indie rock and Rock act. Their sound grew out of Jad Fair, Bob Mould, Slim Whitman, You'll Never Get to Heaven and Grupo Fantasma. Stevie Moore, Mount Eerie, The Moldy Peaches and The Mountain Goats, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Foy Vance, Sufjan Stevens, Mercury Rev, The Flaming Lips and Starlight Mints, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation.
