Niki is a Contemporary R&B act. Their sound grew out of Sekai no Owari, You'll Be in My Heart, Taylor Swift, Halsey and 88rising. Those roots explain a lot about how Niki arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as 88rising, Arthur Nery, Lil Eddie, Chase Atlantic and slchld, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Rich Brian, Denise Julia and Stephanie Poetri, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 29 connections around Niki, reaching back through Sekai no Owari and forward to Rich Brian.
