Folk

Peggy Seeger is a Folk act. Their sound grew out of Rhiannon Giddens, The Weavers and Paul Robeson. Those roots explain a lot about how Peggy Seeger arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Pete Seeger, Cisco Houston, Connie Converse, Paul Clayton and Tia Blake, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Kate McGarrigle, Kirsty MacColl, Ewan MacColl, Luke Kelly and Dave Swarbrick, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 28 connections around Peggy Seeger, reaching back through Rhiannon Giddens and forward to Kate McGarrigle.
