PJ Morton is a House act. Their sound grew out of Bishop Paul S. Morton, Tobe Nwigwe and Stevie Wonder. Those roots explain a lot about how PJ Morton arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Yebba, Alex Isley, Musiq, Ledisi and India.Arie, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Men Of Standard, Ogi, Fred Hammond, Brian Courtney Wilson and Heather Headley, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 41 connections around PJ Morton, reaching back through Bishop Paul S. Morton and forward to Men Of Standard.
