Carl Thomas

Carl Thomas is an act on the Starverb influence map. Their sound grew out of Zhané, Diddy, Donald Lawrence, Omawumi and Universal Records. Those roots explain a lot about how Carl Thomas arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Musiq, Donell Jones, Case, Dru Hill and Tyrese, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Memphis Bleek, Big Pun, Amerie, 2Pac and Papoose, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 45 connections around Carl Thomas, reaching back through Zhané and forward to Memphis Bleek. Follow any of those threads to keep travelling the influence between bands and genres on Starverb.
